While the underwear and diapers are both use once and throw away, what everyone is trying to say is the underwear is not very good at all.
Get the actual Depends Max Briefs (plastic backed) Avoid store brands or any "cloth like cover" Even then be careful until you get used to them, they were not made for a big sudden flood.
If it turns out to be your thing, there are many better brands, mainly available online.
Also a pair of plastic pants can be a lifesaver should you leak.
