I wasn't really around in the 80s, but wasn't he just a shiny costume wearing, pelvic-thrusting, materialistic, boy-lover? I don't really get why it's so important. His best days must have been in your generation. Even among creatures of that generation, I'll bet some will be sad and some will say "good riddance." Life goes on.
