To be fair, the 1 hour requirement only applied to flights coming into the United States from other countries. Yes, some airlines voluntarily decided to incorporate the rule into domestic flights as well, but to my knowledge, that has stopped as it is now up to the captain of the aircraft to enforce the rule. It was a stupid rule that was a knee-jerk reaction from the stupid TSA where they felt that they had to do SOMETHING, no matter if it was the right thing or not. It really got stupid when you think about flights like from here in Los Angeles to Las Vegas where the flights are less than an hour. Are you even allowed on the airplane? Its stupid. But at the same time, I wouldn't put it past the TSA to decide at some point that the 1 hour rule is mandatory on all flights. Plus, I agree that these stupid body scanners are invading your privacy, my privacy, and I feel as though the TSA is doing everything they can to make sure flying is as unpleasant as possible. Trust me, the airlines are on your side, they don't like an outside entity pissing off their customer base. They want people to enjoy flying and come back to do it more, not less. And remember, the flight crew has to go through that security crap every single day. I'm definitely against more security. Let the passengers just beat the crap out of the guy, you know it will happen. Put it on the emergency card, next to how to exit the airplane.
