It's nice to read about mundane, real life experiences of diaper users. I wish I had someone to talk with about the practicalities of diaper-wearing, from buying them, to finding the best deals and the best diapers, to the complexities of changing in public. Kudos on changing your loaded diaper at a store, btw. I'd be terrified to do that.
I get a lot of my diapers at a local thrift store. Most of the time, they are no-names, and I don't buy those unless they are really cheap. But they occasionally have some good ones. I bought Tena Maxis there once. I snapped up all 8 packs they had, for $9 each which is a steal. I guess someone had a large supply and they died or something. I've also gotten chux pads there for next to nothing, and the occasional pack of Depends for $9.
I always have a story in mind in case i run into someone I know. I would tell them that my first aid squad distributes care packages to the elderly, and that i always buy adult diapers when I see them for cheap. I've never had to use that story, but I imagine it would work.
