Have you considered finding a way to get them to use Nullo or chlorophyll to reduce the smell associated with their poopy play? I haven't personally ever used it (not into the smelly stuff), but if it were to work, they'd have the best of both worlds.
In reading through this Nullo link, I didn't see anything about it being good for poop, but others have suggested it over the years. Someone must have tried it...
As for the rest of it, learn to like what it is that makes your GF unique and you'll both benefit from being able to find things that you both enjoy immensely, leading to a better life, free of life's stressors.
Just a thought.
