I like to wear plastic pants over my disposable diapers, and I like to use baby cream/lotion on my shaven skin. I've come to the conclusion that it is necessary to wash my plastic pants at every diaper change. The lanolin in the cream/lotion has a detrimental effect on the vinyl material of the pants, making it stiff instead of pliable. This produces tears, leaving me no choice but to toss them in the trash. Washing them between changes (I keep a large enough supply of plastic pants so that I can rotate)helps prolong the life of these articles.
I wash mine in my bathroom sink in warm water and a cap-full of Woolite soap. I let them soak for a couple hours, then I hand rinse them, and let them air dry.
I welcome any comments you might have toward increasing the useful life of plastic pants.
