As the owner of the site in question, I would to take a moment and ask the readers of this board if I should change my policy on referral links. Currently my policy is "wide open" in that I do not place any restrictions on where the referral link my be used.

I did this for a few reasons (which seemed good at the time):
1) I am not ab/dl myself, so I do not normally frequent these boards. I felt that allowing someone who is 'in tune' with the happenings of this board to post would allow relevant and timely discussion of the site without spamming.

2) The referral is not hidden from the customer. If you go to buy something at my site it clearly shows up in your shopping cart. You are free to delete it if you feel that the referral should not be given.

3) Honesty, I am new to this business and did not anticipate the possible negative reaction.

On the other hand, I can see how having a board member post referral links might lead to a feeling that the poster has a 'conflict of interest'. I can also see that grumblings about a 'free ride' can arise from the fact that the poster contributed relatively little content to the AB/DL discussion, yet is earning money as a result of it.

It seems like a rather benign thing to me, but I want to do what is best for the reputation of my business. I would be very interested to hear the opinions of others on this subject.

Thanks...
