I was 14 the first time I wore an adult diaper. I was at the hospital on unrelated matters but had a bad diaper rash at the time from always having wet underwear against my skin (had leaking problems that went ignored by my family) The DR insisted I get some diapers "at least until your skin clears up" so he gave me a prescription for some skin creame and while that was being filled my Mom made me go to the incontinence aisle and get a bag of Depends, take it to the front register and buy it myself which was VERY EMBARASSING!
At the time I didn't really like it, but that was mainly due to the uncomfortable rash and my family making fun of me. After that bag was gone I didn't wear them again for a year.
When I was 16 I lied my way into a clinic to get checked out and found out my leaking problem (which had been getting worse) was from a mild birth defect and was only going to get worse, not better.
I started wearing undergarments (the old style with the elastic button belts) that I bought myself, but soon needed to go to full diapers, which I have been wearing ever since.
