The Babies by Polly Borland. I bought two copies of this when it was released (one remains shrinkwrapped still). There is a commentary/essay in the beginning whilst the rest of the book is full page pictures.
Personally I find the book as a whole rather a negative thing. The introduction (by Susan Sontag) is depressing and a little accusatory... whilst the images chosen for publication tend to show us as sad cross dressers who live in dingy rooms.
I've seen an exhibition of some of Polly's AB photos (in London a few years ago on the South Bank) and they were stunning. I can only imagine that the publisher wanted to show less controversial (and more main stream *lol*) images.
I don't regret buying it... but I wish they publisher would consider volume 2 - showing how happy we are and not pointing out the gloomy side of life.
That's my 2p worth (although with the exchange rate now... that's my 5c worth *grin*).
