Well, in my case, losing my job could be a good thing -- it has for me in the past. And, at this point, asking for a raise is not out of the question. This is the second weekend in two months I have had to do on-call work, and somebody left the company recently, though not over monetary issues.
And yes, my boss does have a big ego...big enough to ignore factual advice about certain wires/bus bars being too small, with the result that large enough metalwork had to be installed at the customer's demand. The technician/application engineer knew all about it months earlier.
