Having been in a few chats, especially on AOL, it DOES feel like some kind of meat market...nobody is trying to make friends, tell jokes, any of that kind of thing.
And I'll agree, if you can't talk to me in public, I don't want to talk to you in private, either, with certain exceptions -- like trying to figure out what to do with a suicidal chat room person.
