One reason my ex-girlfriend and I broke up was because I am an AB, she found it too weird, thanks to Jerry Springer. However, she was able to get past the weirdness of it, and we are still friends.
We're not getting back together because there were other factors; but, sometimes you're not meant to be with that person. In my case, I am lucky that Linda and I are friends. Sometimes it is the way it works out.
It's my hope that you and your guy can be friends, but if it doesn't work out, that is the way it goes.
