No; terry cloth nappies, or diapers as they are called here, weren't used. The most common type was the Curity 21" X 40" gauze diaper. Because of its size, it could be folded in a verity of ways to fit just about any sized butt. They were thin but they were also very absorbent. I wore these until I was eight years old and still have fond memories of them.
