This is preposterous! Rationality is a product of the mind, not the heart.

Not really. Not if you were willing to reciprocate. The mutual fulfillment of needs does not require love.

I've already defined love as being nothing more than an emotional impulse (and thus not existing in the conventional sense). It is you who have been trying to make it out to be something more, and it is that something more that has been that point of criticism. Respect has NOTHING to do with love. I can respect those whom I despise and often do.

That's quite offensive if you think about it. I'd like to believe women are capable of offering more than just 'love' or 'friendship.'
