While reading the rules of this "Refuge", I was horrified at their misuse of Biblical passages and their intentional disregard for many Christian issues.
This place and its rules are NOT Christian-oriented. Why do you think the "clients" are not allowed to talk about the place and their "treatment" outside of it, even to their own parents!? What I find of EXTREME interest is that they operate in EXACTLY the same way a cult operates - by enforcing rigid rules that cannot be kept, and creating an existance of solitude for the individual involved. It would appear that almost all outside contact is forbidden by these people (even shopping malls!?)
You can not ENFORCE morality or religion upon people. I would just love to talk to some of their "graduates" and dropouts, and maybe I just will. I want to know just how many people they have completely turned against any and all religion with their insanity. I have to tell you, this makes me damn angry - they are masquerading as Christian, but are definitely outside of most of that for which we stand.
I also wonder how many have committed suicide or needed years of therapy because of this place. I can DEFINITELY see how one would be pushed over the edge by this treatment - especially the way they cut their "clients" off from ... well... EVERYONE. And forbidding them to write a diary - what's that about? Sounds like they just don't want it known what goes on there, and THAT makes me highly suspicious. I'd like to see someone infiltrate.
All-in-all, I see there are several rules which can be broken that will result in immdiate dismissal from this hell they have built. One is physical violence. I think the kid ought to punch one of these C.O.C.'s in the face.
( Note: One ought not to read this and get the idea that I condone homosexual relationships. I do NOT. But I also do NOT condome taking extreme measures which are clearly outside our call. )
