That's right, Jerry Springer, Oprah, and others are selling morbid fascination. A crazy AB/DL fits that bill just right. Sane ones won't.
It's the same reason we all know about the shootings at Columbine, the DC sniper, all the bad news you can think of. Bad news sells.
