Searching here for ice age between 1983 and 1985 yields nothing useful except scientists meeting to discuss the dangers of a nuclear war, i.e. the "Nuclear Winter" -- if you want to be believed, please cite.
You misread me on the price of oil: Some very large companies stand to lose a lot of money if the price of oil drops. It would drop if we were burning only half as much gasoline as we do now. That's a straightforward application of the laws of supply and demand.
Also, US spending on finding the solution means less in the way of handouts from the US government to the oil companies in various ways.
As for breathing the same mixture of "air", the air we breathe today has 10 times as much CO2 in it as it did in roughly 1900. We don't feel it because we become acclimated to it -- as a dramatic example, go ask your EMT about emphysema and "Oxygen Breathers".
I'll go check my facts on CO2 and global warming in another post....the computer monitor has turned a pumpkin-like orange with a vine growing out of the top.....
