I understand that it arbitrailly became popular about 2002 in The United States, but i was watching fan subs few years before and we didn't have the english dub.
One thing i don't understand is that some Anime-heads really don't like the english dubs. I can tell you that the English dub for BEBOP was the first of its kind. It actually did an amazing job, capturing everything the show was designed for. Earlier animes, I understand, But bebop's is top notch.
I think its important that if you don't speak japanese that you watch it in english first, to understand whats going on. Second, watch it in japanese so that you get the original inflection and get it better. Than decide which ones better. I can say that the new Samurai Champloo is better in English than Japanese, and that Bebop i don't really care which.
The shows subject matter is whats important and as long as thats the same, whatever.
But Bebop rules, I have the entire Legal DVD collection, and it took me too long to actually find it locally. I hear there's a re-issue, keep your eyes peeled.
Always good to hear from Bebop fans.
