That is funny. My mom keeps my old rubber sheet on my bed as well and I have similar experiences, although I tend to wet the bed a bit more frequently than you. I go in streaks, Sometimes no wet bed for weeks, then several times in a month. My rubber sheet was grey quilted rubber, which allowed the pee to kind of run off in the channels of the quilts. It is broken in with a soft yellow "sweet spot" in the middle from the frequent use during my teens for its intended purpose. When I visit my parents, the distinct feel and smell of that particular sheet brings back adolescent memories which almost always results in a wet bed almost every night I am there. My mother was surprised to hear from my wife that I only infrequently wet the bed at home, as she assumed based on my visits that I was still doing it nightly.
