I originally wrote it in the first person, told from a Canadian's point of view, but I had to change it to third-person omniscient, because the story got more detailed and left what would have rationally been his point of view. You'll meet this Canadian character later on in the story.
As for me, I am from the US, but don't like imperial measurements, so I don't use them unless there is a need. I do use them later in the story, but it is in a conversation between the two American girls.
