I wonder if the compromise might be that you make a point of letting a potential love interest know early, "hey, I'm kinked." You don't have to go into details until later when the relationship grows more intimate and it opens the door to your fetish without necessarily causing said potential partner to run screaming because of the "too much information" effect at the beginning of a relationship. That's why I don't generally bother much with vanilla dating anymore, too low a probability of a good fit.
