Sorry for not responding earlier! School has kept me super busy as of late. x.x;;
I use Skype for PC to PC calling. That, to me, is the safest. I just don't want to deal with phones. I really don't.
Aside from that, I don't know how you can tell.. I actually have a friend who's transgendering M to F and poses as a female online. I had no idea until she came out to me and showed me pictures.
Personally, I don't mind the men who pretend to be female. Probably since I'm pansexual. I can understand why it would bother you though and I wish I could give better advice.
Perhaps, just trust them. I think once you have gained their trust they'll tell you who they really are. I know this is frustrating, but think of it this way.. if they do turn out to be a guy that's one more friend that you have gained.
If you bombard them with requests for pictures or to talk on the phone, you will probably scare them away. Just keep trying. I'm not saying to pour your heart out to them, but show them they can trust you and that you're not just another one of those "creepy Daddies" out there.
To sum everything up, don't rush headfirst into being the "Daddy". Get to know them, girl or guy. Eventually the truth will come out of who they are. I think you should get to know someone before making a bond like that anyway.
