I am not really good at Spanish either. We grew up on the "white" side of town because my dad was the first one in the family to have a "white man's job" with a major insurance company. He insisted we speak English at home because he thought we would get better jobs if we were more "assimilated" to the dominant society. As history has demonstrated, he was a misguided idealist.
