Knickerbockers (Dutch,not from English Puritans) were quite common among young men even in the 1920s,never mind 1620s.And whether or not they're in fashion,their name does NOT mean panties!

Call panties panties,because anything you call "knickers" conjures up visions of Payne Stewart's trousers on the golf course.
