You have NO idea how alone I have been for much of my life. After I started, when I was about 10, I could never share this with anyone - not even my closest friends.
It was not until I had access to the internet (at work, of course) that I made the most fantastic discovery that I was truly not alone.
Yes, the guilt and shame are a part of it. So are all the times when, after doing the deed, you promise yourself you will never do it again.
But these tend to go away once you reach a point of acceptance. Years ago, with the knowledge that I was not alond, and some encouragement from those I found on the net that I called friends, I was able to accept the fact that I am a panties pooper - that this is what I do - it is who I am. Suddenly the weight of what I had been carrying was gone.
Yes, the cleanup is a chore most of us would rather avoid. But it is part and parcel of what we do. Once this too is accepted, even the cleanup is less 'chore' than before, and again simply becomes part of what we do.
