Sometimes I wear briefs and sometimes compression shorts. You can wear them by themselves, which makes cleanup difficult. I have learned to line my underwear with a bag from the dry cleaners; it is thin enough that I can see the lump forming, and play with it if I want to; but sturdy enough to protect what I am wearing. Cleanup is a snap; scrape everything into the bag, put it in a Ziplock bag and throw it away; usually the underwear does not get dirty.
I would not want to ruin an expensive piece of clothing.
