In England the words shit,shite, and shat all relate to each other and are got from germanic language like the word sheisen in Germany (if thats how its spelled). England was basically made up of Anglo saxons from germany and Vikings who suppressed the native Celts and made them all bugger off to Wales, and then in AD.1066 the Norman French came and did the same to the Anglo Saxons, installing themselves as the ruling class (where they sort of remain today on the last bit of Normandy under the English crown called the Channel Islands). It was seen as impollite to use anglo saxon words like fuck and shit around high society, which is why they are considered rude words today. And alas the English joined forces with the Scots and invaded two thirds of the world and exported brilliant words such as fuck, shit, cunt, wanker, and bollocks all over the globe.
