Enron? Worldcom? Martha Stewart? The tech crash? Your hindsite is only as good as everyone else's I'm afraid. If you could have predicted what Saddam would turn out like way back in the 70s (maybe that was easy, I don't know), then I would have listened to you. I really don't think anyone knew. But hey, Middle Eastern politics are pretty complex, these people have motivations and values that we never seem to understand, really. I wish we could "stay the heck out of it" too, I just don't see how we can now...not with idiots hijacking planes and all. You're going to have to draw a line in the sand somewhere, and it might have to be close (to them) enough for them to see it. Just don't be the kind of American that every terrorist wants.
