I think mudman did a great job of creating that sort of 'bad-ass-politically-immature' contextual scene, stereotypic of the late 70's genres, in which women were rampantly slutty (or just thoroughly 'sexually liberated'), and young men - despite being as sexist as ever - had become looser, more ambitious yet less responsible - brimming with exaggerated and unchallenged senses of self efficacy. It had that 'time to be alive' vibe, a widespread attitude bolstered by the giddying explosion of narcotics usage. I think mudman made 78 sound tasty and outright lusty! I wasn’t alive then, but that story made me feel like I missed something good.
PS. Although book worm types maybe readily confused with plain up tight losers, the two certainly aren’t the same.
