I too always have the "red flags" up as this is almost the perfect medium for one to explore the "other side." Like some others I know, I once put a lot of time into a "girl," it getting to the point where she wanted to come and visit me here in Florida, but then after giving her my phone number, which she never called, she vanished. I sent one of those return receipt post cards to "her" and a day later got the notice that "she" opened it, but never another direct reply.
On the brighter side I later met two really great girls, each living within a few miles from me, but they were through a pay to join online dating service.
By the way I hear the north end of the pond gets some really large bugs just before sunrise.
