Ooops... Well, there a republics for sure which are no democracies. The North Korean Republic for instance, the Cuban Republic, The Republic of China, the former German Democratic Republic (East Germany)... But the US are definitely both: a republic AND a democracy. Just like all of Germany now, just like France, just like Italy, just like Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and so on, and so on.. :)
