Our kidneys (and their associated functions) are not some kind of mistake from whose circumvention we can benefit in some way. Instead, they help to maintain a correct balance of certain substances, and reintroducing urine into the body merely disrupts the body's natural mechanism. Why fight against the body?
But, if people feel better despite the lack of any scientific reason, they have this in common with witch doctors, shamans, and many superstitious people throughout the age.
