Not to deviate too much from your question, but there is an account in an autobiography by Enzo Ferrari in which he is taking a series of practie runs with, I think, Tazio Nuvolari, an early F1 champion.
Anyway, Ferrari comments on suddenly feeling a spray hitting his face. He goes on to explain that Nuvolari is peeing his pants saying in effect "when you're practiging you've got to pee your pants. There is no time to stop."
I'd think it common among race drivers that if they get the urge, none is going to stop for relief.
