I don't think she gave up on her attempt at all. In an interview with her coach on "Het Nieuwsblad" (national paper in Belgium) the day after he said it happens often with female weightlifters. Mosts however feel it coming and subsequently abort the attempt. He went on to praise Marx on her persistence to actually go on with the attempt.
Also, the weight she was pushing was above her personal best (at least to my info) Guess she really did give it everything she had. Off course wetting in front of the world may have had her giving up a tad earlier than she would have when not peeing, but that would be only human, wouldn't you agree?
