I have been thinking long and hard about posting this and on reflection have decided to do so.
Two weeks ago, I took my AB girl to see a professional nanny, Nanny Maxine. This was with my little girl’s agreement as we both wanted to meet and talk to a ‘real’ nanny about the AB world and especially wanted to talk to her about her AB clothes and where she got them; I talked with Maxine on the phone twice about this and she was quite welcoming about seeing us.
The proviso was that we wouldn’t meet anyone else while we there. Maxine assured us that there wouldn’t be anyone else there but that if she did get a booking, whoever was there would be kept in the Nursery while we were there. This was quite understandable given that we were not paying her any money.
When we arrived, the nightmare started. Firstly the house was in a total mess and felt dirty. Not very welcoming. Secondly, Maxine herself was completely on edge and didn’t make us feel at all welcome and seemed incapable of holding a conversation without going in and out of the living room. We tried to make conversation but were left on our own while Maxine went back into the kitchen, again and again.
The next thing we knew, the doorbell went, and she said "oh that must be Dave" and in walks this guy, sits down and starts discussing the weather! My little girl was really upset and uncomfortable by now, hadn't wanted to bump into anyone and had had "apparently" professional reassurance from this nanny arranged beforehand that this would definitely not happen. We had no introduction to this man and still don’t know who he was or if he was aware of Maxine’s Nursery.
I then went into the kitchen and asked Maxine if we could see the nursery and we were then waved upstairs to a pokey box room big enough for a single bed with broken drawers underneath. The carpet was the same as downstairs(filthy), the room stank of stale urine, and the sheets on bed were obviously dirty and bed unmade, with wet nappies and a pair of used plastic pants in a nappy bucket in the corner. It was a very sordid and totally unbabyish ‘nursery’.
I asked Maxine downstairs about the dresses she had and she scrabbled around to find a brochure which contained some very nice ‘sissy adult baby’ clothes. We both know that genuine Adult baby girls are a rare species but these clothes were not what we wanted.
All this was a very sobering experience. “You pays your money you take your chances” BUT the thing that upset both of us more than anything else was the fact that as the whole AB/DL world is a secretive one confidentiality is paramount. We may not want it this way but that’s the way it is. Maxine, by allowing in a complete stranger to us while we there totally compromised us and herself. Please be careful if you go there.
