Compromise is inevitable if you and your husband are going to work this out. He's basically obsessed with diapers and-- as anybody on this board can tell you-- that can flucuate in severity over months or years, but it will likely never go away completely.
The suggestion that you "take charge" is a good one, but it should not burden you. Maybe some things like "ground rules" and a diaper calendar would give you both some things to focus on and open up some discussion between the two of you. Without straying too far from the topic, you may find some good material that is BDSM-oriented (D/S-- domininance and submission) that would include "contracts" for this sort of behavior. Again, the intent isn't to make work for you by taking on the role of being The Dominant, etc. but rather things like contracts, etc. can be used as tools for laying out a mutually beneficial relationship.
