It is all time. Just be sure to make it very clear and blunt to him that you LIKE what he is doing. If he knows it makes you happy, then he will relax more. I was the same way, I felt awkward doing it because to most people this is something that wouldn't be percieved as "pleasant" but once I realized that my baby really really liked it, I felt good doing it. He's just tense.
