3 months? It depends on your climate. If you're near a cold pole, leave them outside (in a polar bear-proof container if they smell like honey). If you're in a hot desert, leave them outside, in a fly/insect/animal-proof container. If you're somewhere in the middle, yes, put them in a freezer. If you put them in the fridge, mold, etc. will still grow and the last thing we want is fungus among us. Of course, you could wash them too, but I'm assuming you won't do that. Although if they do start growing mold, the odor changes because of fungal or bacterial growth, etc., you definitely need to wash them. Smelling something like that for fun will probably put deadly pathogens into your nose and brain. Make sure you maintain a contamination-free zone. Always wash your hands before and after handling. Do not allow anything to come in contact with contaminated items. If so, clean with bleach. Good luck.
