I'm surprised no one has mentioned this option. Many of the smaller companies will accept checks and money orders. Well, at least I know I do! Another idea for discrete payment is PayPal, which I also accept, and it is nice because it eliminates the time delay of mailing a check.
Contrary to popular belief, the credit card company has no way to know what you bought from me using your credit card. That is the responsibility of the merchant. The card company knows 1) Where you purchased 2) How much it cost. They do not know what you purchased.
Finally, a word about shipping: If you order something online, most places can arrange to have it held at the local UPS counter for pick-up. Picking up a plain brown box at the UPS center is about as discrete as you can get. I don't charge any extra for this, just be sure to let me know when you order. Just enter "Hold for pickup" and your state and zip code as the shipping address, and UPS will call you when your order arrives.
