color can and is usually symbolic. i'm not refering this to RACE, but COLOR. ex: green is associated with life, for good reason. trees are green, grass is green, etc etc. when something dies or burns it turns brown or black. dirt is brown. the sky supposedly turns black right before a tornado (i've never seen one up close, so i'm going on something that i've heard more than once). although they may have used the color brown to connotate a negative image, they were not necessarily implying that blacks (as a race) were dirty, etc etc.
