If it is truly Word, then use the application to save it as text (.txt). This will strip out all coded characters and special formatting.

Once tha is done, if it still fails, then it is some subset of ascii characters that is the culprit. Try searching for the @ adn # sign, and other special characters. Also ensure that any periods are separated by at least one space on either side - it might be construed as a URL.

Someone should go to wetset, reach the developers, and have them let us know what these characers (and character sets) are so that we can avoid them. I expect this was done for a level of protection that has prevented this site from severe corruption. They should probably remain in place, but letting us know what they are should be ok.
