"now you're saying it DOES exist, albeit in a transitory state. That's like saying pain doesn't exist."

Pain can be experienced physically. Love cannot. Care to try again?

"When water boils it evaporates, it doesn't stop existing, it just changes its physical properties. Same as love: it might only be tangible for short periods of time, but that doesn't mean when it does exist it's fake. Several elements in the periodic table only ever existed under man-made laboratory conditions, however as far as scientists are concerned they are still real, genuine elements that, under the same conditions, could exist again in the future."

Once again, do not confuse the emotion and the physical.

"Real people have really loved each other, from Romeo and Juliet to Posh and Becks, therefore love exists. You're accusing these people of either lying or suffering a delusion."

You said 'real people' and then mentioned characters from a play. Putting that foolish gaffe aside, how do you KNOW they loved each other? What proof do you have of what they felt?

"The bottom line for me is my parents have been happily married for forty years, therefore I grew up in a home full of love. I grew up knowing love to be real, therefore although I sympathise with those who didn't have as happy a childhood as me (maybe that's why I'm so desperate to cling to my inner child!), I have no desire at all to form a relationship NOT based on love. Doesn't interest me. It just seems like boring irrelevant drivel to be honest, getting involved in a non-loving relationship. Can't see why anyone bothers if their heart isn't in it. What a waste of effort!"

So what? My parents have been married for 25 years.....doesn't mean anything. One plausible explanation is that people experience the impulse of love, and, by the time that impulse has faded, they've found other reasons to want to be together (ie: shared interests).

"fucking a girl without feeling her love for me and my love for her"

What makes you think sex and love have anything to do with one another?

"Name just ONE good thing about living without love and I promise you I'll listen to what you say with an open mind!"

Umm....you're free from the burdens of false expectations and can therefore enjoy life on its own terms. How's that?
