Hi, Sara;
Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband. I can't think of any greater loss than a spouse or child, and I want you to know that my prayers are with you.
I agree with Matt on much of what he says, but also want to address your concern of not being sure what you are after. So many of us aren't exactly sure why we feel the way we do about our "hobby", as I call it. We can often point to a specific incident or set of circumstances early in childhood or adolescence, that triggered our interest, but even then that only acknowledges the conscious waking awareness of it in our mind. I believe that somewhere deeper in the subconscious is some factor that may make us more likely to lean toward this than others. What it is, I have no idea, but it'll be one of the first things I'll ask the Lord when my time comes.
Another aspect of this is a pet theory I have, which is that people who enjoy our hobby tend to be more thoughtful, introverted, and analytical. Of course I have nothing to base this on outside of my own personal experience as a passionate devotee of pants peeing and pooping, so I may be way out to lunch, but that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
Hope this gets you closer to what you're looking for. Email me if you like : )
